Built in 1965, St. Jude parish has become an active parish made up of many councils, committees, prayer groups, and social groups. Altogether these formulate the foundation of our parish family. There are always areas where time, talent, and treasures are needed!
1965- The original building, planned by Fr. Ralph Barranfer and Fr. Wilfred Diamond, was named St. Jude Parish Hall, a mission of Immaculate Conception Church. The first Mass was Celebrated on Christmas Eve 1965.
1979- Bishop Frank Flores officiated at the new church. The first service was held on September 30, 1979. Bishop Sydney Metzger dedicated the Church on December 9, 1979.
1981- St. Jude Mission was made an official parish on May 25, 1981, and Fr. Diamond was appointed its first pastor on June 1, 1988. Fr. Diamond retired on February 24, 1988.
1982- In 1982, the parish became part of the new Diocese of Las Cruces with the Most Rev. Ricardo Ramirez, C.S.B. as the first Bishop.
1988- Fr. Paul O'Rourke, S.S.C. was appointed as pastor on February 28, 1988, and oversaw the construction of the life center (Parish offices).
1990- Fr. Daniel Barfield, S.J. was installed in 1990. During his tenure as pastor, he added to the physical plant, with the construction of the rectory. The years 1992-1994 saw the complete renovation of all facilities: parking area, Church, hall, and landscaping.
1997- In February 1997, Fr. Dan added a Columbarium, which was dedicated by the Bishop in the same year. An altar addition was dedicated in April 1999.
2000- In July 2000, the ground was broken for the Chapel of Our Lady, which was blessed on March 22, 2002, by Bishop Ramirez. In April 2008, the reservation Chapel was dedicated.
2003- Fr. Wayne Herpin, S.J. was installed as the fourth pastor of St. Jude Parish on October 18, 2003, after the death of Fr. Dan on June 7, 2003. Fr. Wayne served until 2015.
2008- In September 2008, Fr. Tom Hoffman, S.J. was assigned as the Parochial Vicar. He was installed as Pastor in 2015 and served until 2020.
2021- In July 2021, Fr. Marcel Okonkwo was installed as Pastor of St. Jude Parish.
2023- In February 2023, the outdoor Stations of the Cross were dedicated by Fr. Marcel.
